Available Sale Lots

Cattlemen, It looks as though the seasons are finally changing; the warmer, longer days and new calves dropping are signaling spring here on the ranch.  Though it came later than usual, we are grateful for the wet snow we had and are relieved to see our creeks running and stock dams full.  With any luck, we will have enough rain in the coming months to keep the pasture grass green and the hay corral stocked for next winter. As we move closer to the breeding season, we have a number of bulls available from our Opening Day Auction in March.  […]

2018 Sale Lots- Final Weights and Scrotal Measurements

These weights and scrotal measurements were taken on March 10th. They are the actual weights and scrotal measurements and are not adjusted for age. Lots 1-5 are coming two-year-old virgin bulls. Please keep in mind that lots 6 through 50 are 9 ½ to barely 11 months old and are on a ration aimed at an average daily gain of 2.75 lbs. We realize that they could weigh more but the adverse effect of feeding for a maximum gain on an animal meant to go to work in the breeding pasture has never made any sense to us. The bulls will […]

2018 Annual Bull Sale

Cattlemen, As we look to close the books on 2017, we at Hansen Resigered Angus want to wish you and your family best wishes for a healthy and prosperous 2018. 2017 certainly presented its challenges here in Northeastern Montana as rainfall totals here at the ranch were less than 6 inches. While the grass in our pastures held up surprisingly well, the hay crop was thin at best and by the end of the summer our creeks and dams were low if not completely dry. The drought situation forced us to alter our 2018 bull sale plan. With the exception […]

As Simple As 1-2-3-4

I was recently asked by a fellow seedstock producer why I placed so much importance on the pedigree (bloodlines) of our bull battery and cowherd.  At the risk of being redundant with regard to the other posting and opinions I have shared on this website, my answer to him was as follows: We believe that producing genetics that will stand the test of time requires selecting and perpetuating bloodlines that have actually stood the test of time.  The discipline to not follow the latest fad, whether it be an EPD, the hottest new bull in the stud catalog, or the […]
